Employer/ Beneficiary: FCG POVVIK EAD
Implementation period: 06/2017 – 08/2017

Design parameters:

  • Planned production – 30 000 million tons of silicates, with the potential to increase the production in the future by 60 000 million tons of silicates;
  • Average daily flow of wastewater – after first stage completion:
    – Q = 912 000 m³/d (~ 87 % of the required water quantity), mainly contaminated with sulfates, with an average concentration of 18 500 mg/l;
  • Average daily flow of wastewater – after first stage completion:
    – Q = 1 824 000 m³/d.

Performed activities:

  • Technical/technological consultation for preliminary assessment of the impacts from the discharge of wastewater from silicate factory for site selection (3 options considered);
  • Preparation of two alternative solutions for physicochemical wastewater treatment by dosing of a reagent for sulfates removal and accomplishing the concentration limits according to the deep sea discharge permit for the Black Sea;
  • Techno-economic comparison and evaluation of the investment and operating costs of the proposed options for choosing the optimal solution.
