OPTIMIZATION OF THE BIOLOGICAL STAGE OF RUSE WWTP

Design parameters:

  • WWTP capacity of 240 000 PE;
  • WWTP inlet parameters:
    – Average daily amount 52 500 m³/d;
    – BOD5 274 mg/l;
    – Suspended solids 297 mg/l;
    – Total Nitrogen 50 mg/l;
    – Total phosphorus 8 mg/l;

Performed activities:

Preparation of expert report including short-term and long-term measures for solving of existing operating problems, as well as measures for WWTP energy efficiency optimization:

  • Analyzing of design and real parameters of inlet wastewater, redesign of the necessary facilities volumes, analysis of factors that led to the unsatisfactory operation of the WWTP;
  • Specific short-term and long-term measures have been identified for solving the problems and guaranteeing the parameters of treated water, in accordance with the current discharge permit;
  • Different operating modes of the facilities in different seasons have been presented, leading not only to the sustainable achievement of the WWTP outlet parameters but also to the aim of reducing the costs of electricity and reagents.
